Summer Cricket Camps

SOUTHGATE SUMMER CRICKET CAMPS at The Walker Ground

We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be holding Cricket Camps throughout the Summer, to coincide with school holidays.

The camps will provide professional cricket coaching for boys and girls from the ages of 8 to 16 years old. The camps will be run by qualified Level 1 and Level 2 cricket coaches.

The Camps will take place at The Walker Ground, home of Southgate Cricket Club and one of the finest and most beautiful club grounds in London. Recently it’s where Middlesex CCC have played their ‘out-matches’, away from Lords.

And to make the Camps even more special,
Mike Gatting, the former Middlesex and England Captain, will be making regular visits!

The Camps cater for all standards, from beginners to advanced. So don’t worry if you’ve never picked up a bat before, this is the perfect chance to give it a try!

Camp Dates:

Monday, May 31st – Friday, June 4th (Summer half-term week)

And then every week from Monday July 26th until Friday 3rd September.

Times:

10am to 3.30pm, Mon – Fri.

(Early drop offs and late pick-ups are available. Please contact Lynda Colt at The Walker Ground on 0208 886 8381 for details)

Cost: £75 for the week, or £20 per day.

To book:

Print off and fill in the short online booking form, then send it, along with a cheque (made payable to The Walker Cricket Ground Trust), to Lynda Colt at the address below (or you can drop them off at the club if it’s easier). Alternatively, call or email Lynda Colt on the number or email address below.

Disclaimer:

As always, parents or guardians will need to sign a disclaimer, giving approval for the player’s participation.

We’ve added it to the online booking form, to make things easy. But if you don’t book using the online form, then parents or guardians should sign a form when they drop their child off on the day of the Camp. The forms will be readily available.

More details:

Full use of The Walker Ground car park is available.

Cold drinks will be provided throughout the day, but please bring pack lunches.

Wear cricket kit if you have it, otherwise sports kit is fine. Everyone will be given a free SOUTHGATE CRICKET CAMPS T shirt.

Everyone should bring trainers or non-studded cricket shoes for use in the nets. These or studded cricket shoes can be worn outside the nets on the grass. Bring your own cricket gear (bat, pads, gloves, helmet etc) if you have it. But don’t worry if you don’t, it will all be provided. Everyone must wear their own pouched cricket briefs or jockstrap though. These aren’t for sharing!

In the event of rain we have indoor facilities but we may decide to play some football too. So pack some football boots and shin-pads just in case! (Fortunately our main cricket coach is also a qualified football coach.)

We have changing rooms and washing facilities, so bring a towel if you want a shower at the end of the day.

There are prizes to be won at the end of each week. There will also be written feedback on each player by the coaches. The coaches will monitor player progress and report back at the end of each camp in the form of a written report featuring areas of strength and areas which need improving.

Hopefully that’s everything you need to know. But if there’s anything we haven’t covered here, just give Lynda Colt a call at The Walker Ground on the number below.

We hope you enjoy the Cricket Camps, they should be great fun for everyone involved. If they do whet your appetite for cricket then we hope you’ll perhaps consider joining Southgate Cricket Club, based at the magnificent Walker Ground, which runs a thriving Colts section as well as successful senior sides.

Good luck and hit’em for six!
