As per last year we will be having an end of year social in 2 weeks time on the Saturday 2nd of September after the last league game for all sides. Hopefully like last year we will be able to celebrate again for all 4 sides, the 1s surviving the drop, 2s gaining a second promotion, 3s winning back to back titles and the 4s maintaining their league position.
It should be a good occasion like last year where we will also have the chance to send off and thank our resident overseas player for the year Keaton Critchell. Please ensure you all make the effort to get there and enjoy a drink and some food, as you know boys it will be a long winter.
Look forward to seeing you all there and to keep up the Southgate CC comradery!!
See you all there boys….
The Southgate Cricket Club Annual Christmas Lunch and Awards Ceremony will be held in the pavilion on Sunday 4th December 2016.
All members, including Vice-Presidents, Honorary Members and playing members are welcome. There is a lot to celebrate this year with three promotions and with the 1st XI more than holding their own in the Premier Division.
Tickets will be £20.00 per person and the bar will be open from 12 noon. Wine can be ordered separately on the day as required. Lunch is likely to start at 2.30pm and the day will include:
* A splendid two course lunch plus coffee by Pink Caterers (vegetarian options available)
* 200 Club draw
* Raffle with prizes perfect for Christmas presents
* 2016 season’s awards
As last year there will be a football match between Under 30’s and Over 30’s preceding the lunch starting around 12 noon which no doubt will be played with the usual enthusiasm. Jeremy Dangerfield and Phil Dunnett will be contacting their respective teams. Last year’s game was decided with penalties in the end.
As ever this will be a most enjoyable Club occasion and I look forward to hearing from you.

Southgate CC is delighted that Dan Whiting aka ‘The Middle Stump’ will be bringing his hit Cricket Show ‘Pushing the Boundaries’ to the Walker Cricket Ground on Friday the 10th of April.
Proceeds go to Melanoma UK and it promises to be a fantastic evening’s entertainment. The more the merrier but do book up ASAP as tickets will sell out. Details below:
We are pleased to announce that this year the Walker Ground Grand Fireworks Display will be on SATURDAY, 8th NOVEMBER 2014.
The display is a major fund raising event for the Walker Cricket Ground Trust and therefore is hugely important to Southgate CC, over 8,000 people are expected to attend.
In 2014 this was our major fundraising initiative and we hope to raise even more money this year.
We need volunteers to help on the SCC fundraising stall and to assist with stewarding. If you volunteer you will receive free family entry!
Last time around we ran a cake stall selling some cracking home made cakes, we’d like to do that again if someone can step up. We also ran a very popular dice game to win a car which was also very good fun and a great success.
If anyone has a good fundraising idea for the fireworks event now is the time to make it happen.
We also have the opportunity to sell tickets to your members, friends and family and for every ticket sold the club will receive 40% commission. Tickets are available now!
Last year was a lot of fun and the more the merrier for 2015. Please contact email@example.com if you can get involved.
On Saturday (12th April) we are holding our annual NatWest Cricket Force event to get the ground completely ready for action!
This is always an essential but fun part of getting the season underway. Here’s a photo of Jez and Sage in previous cricket force action to wet the appetite.
A great deal of work has taken place behind the scenes at the Walker Ground during the off-season and I’m sure you’ll be impressed with the condition of the squares and surrounds .
You’ll also be delighted to inspect two brand new wheeled cage nets which have been purchased by the cricket club this month to boost our practice facilities for 2014 and beyond.
All players are asked to attend on Saturday, a training session is planned to follow the ground work and no doubt a few well earned refreshments will be available when we’re finished. Faisal is planning to get some pizzas in for those who can hang around and it will be great to catch up with everyone on the day.
- 11am Players meet at the club for Cricket Force
- 2pm Players pre-season meeting & training session
- 4pm Well earned refreshments
I very much look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
