Colts Revolution at SCC

Southgate Cricket Club has given considerable thought to improving the cricketing standards of the Southgate Colts Section.

We have decided to engage a team of four professional coaches to oversee our colts summer training. The coaches will be provided by Revolution Coaching who have conducted our recent Summer Cricket Camps, and will be headed by former first-class cricketer Carl Greenidge, son of West Indian Test star Gordon Greenidge.

The regular volunteer club coaches will still be playing their part as normal but it means we can provide more in-depth attention to the youngsters’ needs and aspirations and aim for higher standards.  We will also still be grateful to rely on the help of those parents who have freely given their time and enthusiasm in the past to providing valuable support to the coaching staff.

Such a departure, however, cannot be sustained on the current registration fees so you will easily understand there will be commensurate increases in order to finance this venture. The new fees are detailed below but, when divided by 14 weeks, we consider the cost set against the benefit gained is very reasonable indeed. I am certain you will share our keenness to support this bold initiative to strive for excellence.

Upon finalising the arrangements for 2014 Carl Greenidge said:

“I worked hard to be given the chance to play professional cricket and I hope that my experiences will enable me to help this generation. My route into the game wasn’t a conventional one but fortunately for me, one that was successful and thinking about how hard it was, and potentially could be for the many talented individuals I see inspired me to be the best coach I can be.”

Head of Revolution Coaching, Steve Selwood said:

“We at Revolution are delighted to be teaming up with Southgate CC for 2014. We’ll work with SCC coaches to develop young players and help them be as good as they want to be. In the long run, we’ll help put such a famous and successful club where it belongs- at the top of club cricket in London.”

Registration Day will be Sunday 6th April at the Walker Cricket Ground pavilion from 11.00 a.m. until 1.00 p.m.
